Martin Lawrence Says Will Smith Slap Won’t Stop ‘Bad Boys 4’

Martin Lawrence is shutting down rumors regarding Bad Boys 4 being canceled due to Will Smith’s Oscar slap .

According to Variety , a fourth installment of Bad Boys was confirmed back in January 2020 as Bad Boys For Life produced record-breaking box office numbers.

However, after Smith infamously slapped Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards, speculation amassed that production for the fourth movie would be indefinitely shut down. As Smith was banned from the Academy for 10 years , several of his upcoming projects were deaded or delayed.

Despite the lingering backlash his co-star has faced, Lawrence insists that a fourth Bad Boys is still in the making.

“We got one more at least,” Lawrence told Ebony Magazine .

The original Bad Boys raked in $141 million worldwide, a number that was almost doubled by the 2003 sequel Bad Boys II which brought in $273 million.

“It was big,” Lawrence said about beginning the hit franchise with Smith. “For us to come together and prove that we can deliver, and we can pull people into the box office—that two Black stars, two sitcom stars, could make money at the box office [was huge]. I didn’t go to college, so I felt TV was my college years. I felt with movies, I had graduated; it was just different.”

After Bad Boys For Life earned $426 million worldwide and critical acclaim, moviegoers have anticipated a fourth installment that brings the two cops back in action.
